Dear Valued HMU Electric Customer,
While it has been a privilege to serve you as an electric utility customer, we are writing to inform you that the City of Hercules is selling the Hercules Municipal Utility (HMU) to Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E). Once the sale closes, the HMU will cease to exist, and PG&E will immediately begin providing your electrical services. The scheduled date for this transition to PG&E is April 10, 2014.
This transfer does not require you to do anything – the City and PG&E are working diligently to ensure that the transfer of customer accounts takes place as seamlessly as possible. PG&E will be sending you information on the electric service programs they offer to their customers.
It is critical that you remit your payment of the enclosed March invoice to HMU on or before April 2, 2014 to avoid service disruption.
