Rebate Programs

Hercules Municipal Utility (HMU) encourages customers to increase the efficiency of their homes by offering incentives for the following energy efficiency measures:

• Energy Efficient Lighting
  Periodically the HMU provides customer with coupons for free compact fluorescent light (CFL) bulbs.
  
•  ENERGY STAR^® Appliances
  HMU encourages its customers to select more efficient ENERGY STAR^®-rated appliances by offering generous rebates:
• Refrigerators: $100 rebate
• Clothes washers: $75 rebate
• Dishwashers: $50 rebate
  
• Energy Efficient Windows
  Replace your old windows with qualifying new high performance windows and receive a rebate of $1/square foot. High performance windows have a U-Factor of 0.40 or less and a Solar Heat Gain Coefficient of 0.40 or less and qualify as ENERGY STAR^® windows.

• Insulation
  Keep your house warm in the winter and cool in the summer with additional insulation. If your attic has insulation of R-19 or less, HMU will rebate up to $150 per home to increase the attic insulation level to R-38. Wall insulation of R-11 is rebated at up to $200/home and floor insulation of R-19 qualifies for up to $75/home.

• Sunscreens
  Sunscreens keep your home cooler by blocking out the hot sunlight in the summer. Hercules Municipal Utility will rebate $1/square foot for sunscreens up to 100 square feet. To qualify, sunscreens must block out 60% of the sunlight.

*Maximum rebate amount is $100. Rebate may not exceed 50% of total (receipt) cost.
