80Solar Power for Your Home
The Hercules Municipal Utility (HMU) supports solar power through a generous rebate program to our residential customers. Rebates up to a maximum of $10,000 per home can be obtained under the HMU Buy-Down Program. The Hercules Building Department also offers a discount on the required solar permits. Rebates are subject to annual program limits and may not be available at all times of the year. Get more information from our Consumer’s Guide to Solar Power and be sure to also contact the Building Department regarding the requirements for installing solar power systems.

Rebates for commercial customers are evaluated on an individual case-by-case basis. Commercial rebate requests exceeding the $10,000 maximum are subject to approval. Approval is not guaranteed and is subject to annual program funding limits. Contact HMU for more details.

Solar Electric Buy-Down Program

NOTICE: “ Hercules Municipal Utility has temporarily suspended it’s Solar Electric Buy-Down Program, effective May 17, 2012. Check back for future status changes posted here.”

HMU’s Solar Electric Buy-Down Program is an incentive based on the rated AC generating capacity of the solar system measured in watts. The rebate amount is $2.42 per watt for systems up to a maximum size of 10,000 watts. The maximum rebate per customer is $10,000. The rebate is being offered on a first-come, first-served basis and is subject to funding availability.

Additional City of Hercules Incentives
