The Hercules Swim Center is a beautiful place that provides valuable resources to the community of Hercules, by providing a place for families, adults, teens and children to recreate! The Swim Center’s programs specialize in fostering human development, strengthening safety and security, promoting health and wellness, and providing recreational experiences.
Hot Roasted Garlic Crab Feed - Swim Team Fundraiser Event
The Hercules East Bay Silver Dolphins & Hercules Piranhas Swim Teams' will be hosting their annual Hot Roast Garlic Crab Feed Fundraiser event on Saturday, January 23, 2016 at the Hercules Community Center from 5pm-9:30pm. Tickets will be on sale at the Hercules Community Center from October 1, 2015 until sold out; Adults are $45 per person, children 3-12 years of age are $25 per person, and a party of six (6) is $240. Doors open at 5pm for auction review & bidding; dinner will begin being served at 6:30pm and includes hot roasted garlic crab, salad, pasta, and bread. Drinks will be available for purchase at the bar; no outside beverages, ice chests, large bags, or backpacks will be permitted at this event. Please purchase your tickets early; tickets will not be sold at the door. We will be taking registration prior to the starting date of each class. Late registration will be accepted with a late fee of $10.00 applied on a space available basis or by special arrangements with the Recreation Program Supervisor. Dates are scheduled in advance, and participants who are interested in taking the course are encouraged to register early by calling over the phone, online, or coming into the community center during office hours.
Refunds and/or transfers will be granted on or before the first class meeting. No refunds or transfers will be granted after the first class meeting. There is a $10.00 service charge on all refunds/transfers initiated by the participant. If the course is canceled by the Hercules Parks & Recreation Department, the participant will have the option of transferring to another program, or will be granted a full refund.
The department does not makeup or refund for any missed classes, unless the participant has a Certified Doctor’s Excuse stating the reason the participant was unable to swim in the water for the period of time. In order to receive a refund for the length of time unattended, the Certified Doctor's Excuse must have the current date, time, and length of time that the participant is unable to attend the class. All refunds will be reviewed by the Recreation Program Supervisor and will be processed upon request.
Public Swim Capacity Policy:
On extremely hot days we anticipate reaching maximum capacity, at which time we will no longer admit additional participants. Parties that are not registered with the Swim Center will not be allowed to admit guests once we have reached maximum capacity. We will not allow patrons to re-enter the facility once they have left.
The Swim Center will be open rain or shine. If lightning, thunder, or heavy hail/rain occurs, the Swim Center will be closed immediately. The Swim Center may close at any time without notice due to program changes, weather conditions, or emergency situations.
Swim Diaper Policy:
Any child that is not completely potty trained must wear an approved swim diaper while swimming in our facility. To avoid pool closure and/or the cancellation of your swimming lesson/program, please remember to have your child visit the restroom periodically throughout your swim time.
The Hercules Swim Center requires children of the opposite sex (6 years and older) to use their respected locker room. Please respect our community and facility by utilizing the appropriate locker room for the changing of diapers and/or clothing; we encourage cleanliness and privacy.
- Lifeguards spend more than 25 hours getting certified and trained 1 time a month, year-round to ensure that they are ready for any emergency situation.

- The Hercules Swim Center is a year-round facility that offers programs and activities for adults and children.
- Our main pool consists of 300,000 gallons of water & our play pool consists of 30,000 gallons of water.
- The Hercules Swim Center was built in 1991, making this our 24th year of operation.
- Both of our pools are heated year-round, at approximately 78-82 degrees.
- All entries to the pool and deck areas must be paid admissions, including non-swimmers and chaperones.
- Children 9 years and under, must be accompanied by an adult 18 years or older at all times.
- All children 6 years & under must be supervised and within in reaching distance of a parent or guardian; failure to follow this rule will result in the lifeguard staff asking the parent/guardian and child to leave the facility without a refund.
- Only US Coast Guard approved life jackets may be worn, with adult supervision; swim suits with sewn-in foam is not allowed.
- Noodles and small diving toys are permitted during public swim hours. No water guns, full face masks, snorkels, fins, inner tubes, water wings, air mattresses, beach balls or inflatable toys.
- Outside food is allowed under certain rules and conditions: no alcohol, no glass, and no BBQs.
- No street clothing may be worn in the pool; proper swim attire only. Swimmers may wear a white t-shirt over their swimming suit, but must have a swimming suit on under the white shirt.
- No photograph or recording equipment allowed in the pool areas.
- Swim diapers required for any child who wears diapers
- No animals/pets allowed in the pool areas.
- Only children (5 years and under) of the opposite sex are allowed in the locker room areas.
- Pool rules are posted on the deck surrounding the pool and are necessary for the safety of all participants. Participants must obey posted rules and oral instructions from the aquatics staff at all times; failure to comply will result in being asked to leave the facility without a refund.
We are now into our fall swim season; our open Public Swim will be available as of June 2016 for the summer swim season. Please revisit our website April 2016 for available days and times for our summer rec swim.

Lap Swim / Water Walking Therapy (Ages 14 and Up)
This program is designed for swimmers looking for a cardiovascular workout through swimming laps or water walking, and for participants who are looking for a location to complete their therapy routine. Swimmers may be asked to circle swim or move to designated lap lanes as needed; please ask for assistance.

Master Lap Swim
This program is designed for serious swimmers who utilize this time for a great and powerful workout! This monthly pass is a dual usage pass with access to Lap Swim (during designated hours), and Master Lap Swim (during designated hours). *Minimum monthly enrollment: 12 people

The City of Hercules East Bay Silver Dolphins is a USA swimming team that practices & competes year-round! The team & coaches are dedicated to fostering a positive and challenging environment for athlete growth in the East Bay! Swimmers will have fun while improving their skills, sportsmanship, and self-esteem. Each dolphin is coached by ASCA certified coaches, competes and participates in year-round team events. Trainings: swimmers work on stroke technique, conditioning skills, goal setting, teamwork and discipline in a safe, fun environment that values every swimmer. Life skills: EBSD believes that while swimming is fun and great exercise, it also teaches important life skills such as self-motivation, the importance of hard work and dedication, setting and obtaining personal goals, and time management. Team: each swimmer is an important part of the team. They learn to have fun together and provide encouragement and motivation for their teammates.
Pre-requisite: swimmer must have a level 2 swimming experience before joining the swim team.
FREE 1 week trail for Intermediate and Advanced swimmers.
Fees: Monthly Fee + $80.00 (Yearly USA Registration Fee)
*Swimming practice times and levels are based on a swimmer's swimming ability.
EBSD Seasonal Membership
Practice times are based on your child's swimming ability; all swimmers must be able to swim 25 yards unassisted prior to joining the swim team. Swim practices will be held at the Community Swim Center. Coaching staff will evaluate each swimmer and place them in their designated practice based on their swimming ability; swimmers do have the ability to advance and grow with the team.

EBSD High School Conditioning
Join us for our High School Conditioning program taught by our USA registered swim coaches that will get you ready for the upcoming high school swim season. This course will provide an opportunity for early development of strength, endurance, technique, and speed; sign up today to prepare for your high school swim season.
Hercules Piranhas Swim Team
The Hercules Piranhas are a recreational swim team that swims during the Spring and Summer months. The Team emphasizes on teamwork, dedication, and fun for children 5 to 18 years of age. All swimmers participate in practices, clinics, invitational meets, and team events. Practice times are determined off of your child's swimming ability rather than age, this helps each child individually and to utilize our pool time/space effectively. If you are looking for something for your children to do during Spring and Summer, this is the team for you! Swim with a Championship Team, have fun, and meet new friends and families! Pre-requisite: Children must be able to swim 25 yards unassisted prior to joining swim team.
Lifeguard Training Class
Want to become a lifeguard? Sign up for this course and you can become a lifeguard in less than 25 hours! After you complete this course you will receive certifications in CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, First Aid, and Lifeguard Training for the Professional Rescuer. Pre-requisite: must be at least 15 years or older by the last day of the course; on the first day of the course participants must be able to swim 300 yards nonstop and retrieve a 10lb brick from 7 feet of water and return to the designated point within 1 minute 40 seconds and be able to tread water for 2 minutes - legs only .

This course is designed for participants who would like to get re-certified in CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer through the American Red Cross; each participant will be required to challenge out on all required skills as well as pass the writen test. Swim Teacher Aide
This course is designed for those who wish to become a volunteer or instructor aide at the Hercules Swim Center. The training is designed for participants 14 years and up who desire further involvement in aquatics activities. The training consists of two Red Cross courses: Water Safety Instructor Aide and Basic Water Rescue. Participants will receive a certificate for each course as long as they attend all training days, complete all necessary skills, and pass all physical and written tests. Water Safety Instructor
Want to become a swim instructor? Sign up for this course and you can become a certified swim instructor through the American Red Cross; upon completion of this course you will receive your WSI certification and will be certified to teach for two years. Jr. Lifeguard Camp
This camp is designed to give individuals the opportunity to train and prepare to became a future lifeguard. This course will focus on physical fitness, each individual will be introduced to advanced lifeguard skills including rescues and becoming certified in CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer. Basic Water Rescue
This course will provide individuals with the information and skills necessary to prevent, recognize, and respond to aquatics emergencies. This will also teach participants how to protect themselves while assisting others. There are no pre-requisites or age requirements for this course. Participants must complete all written and skills tests in and out of the water to receive a certificate that is valid for three years. For fees, dates, and to sign up use our online registration.
The purpose of this course is to meet the specialized First Aid training requirements of the California Administrative Code which is required for Lifeguards, Police Officers and Fire Fighters. This course will provide the First Responders with the knowledge and skills they need to help to sustain life until more advanced medical help arrives. Pre-requisites are this course are a current certification in CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, First Aid and Lifeguard Training for the Professional Rescuer.

When you take Aqua Zumba, a bathing suit and towel is required and a bottle of water is recommended. Join us for a Zumba party like a never before and you don't even need to know how to swim. This is definitely not your typical water workout; shake, shimmy and sizzle in the water as we create some heat, Zumba Style. What is all the talk about Aqua Zumba anyways? Aqua Zumba is a safe, effective, and challenging water-based workout that integrates the Zumba formula and philosophy into traditional aqua fitness. Don't be fooled, this is not your normal aqua class. The moves are intense. Latin dance rhythms are incorporated into this class. Exercise movements including hamstring curls, Zumba shuffle, kicking, twisting and clapping. *Water shoes are recommended for your safety; you may purchase these from Walmart, Target, or any sport store. Splashball is designed to introduce the sport of water polo to children 5 to 9 years of age. This program will teach each participant basic water polo skills, develop water safety skills, cultivate health & fitness, build endurance and muscle tone, promote a love for the sport, and encourage sportsmanship and teamwork, all in a safe and fun environment. *Prerequisite: participants who are unable to swim 5 minutes unassisted without stopping and who are unable to tread water for up to 2 minutes will be required to wear a flotation device during the assigned program and games. JR. Water Polo
Jr. Water Polo is for participants 10 to 14 years of age with intermediate to advanced water polo skills. Each class meeting will focus on basic to advanced water polo techniques and skills, build endurance, refine swimming skills, and will promote sportsmanship and teamwork. *Prerequisite: participants are required to have a least a level 5 swimming ability; an evaluation will be completed on the first day of the class meeting. These beginning to intermediate Spring Board Diving Classes are for students who are able to front dive unassisted and be at least at a Level 4 swimmer.
