The Hercules Swim Center is a beautiful place that provides valuable resources to the community of Hercules, by providing a place for families, adults, teens and children to recreate! The Swim Center’s programs specialize in fostering human development, strengthening safety and security, promoting health and wellness, and providing recreational experiences.

Registration Tips:
We will be taking registration prior to the begin date of the particular classes you are interested in. Late Registration will be accepted with a late fee of $10.00 applied on a space available basis or by special arrangements with the Aquatics Coordinator. Dates are scheduled and if participants who are interested in taking the course are encouraged to register early by calling over the phone, online or coming into the community center during office hours.

Cancellation Policy:  
Refunds and/or transfers will be granted on or before the first class meeting. No refunds or transfers will be granted after the first class meeting. There is a $10.00 service charge on all refunds/transfers initiated by the participant. If the course is canceled by the Hercules Recreation and Community Services, the participant will have the option of transferring to another program, or will be granted a full refund.

Make-Up Classes:
The department does not makeup or refund for any missed classes, unless the participant has a Certified Doctor’s Excuse stating the reason the participant was unable to swim in the water for the period of time. In order to receive a refund for the length of time unattended, the Certified Doctors Excuse must have the current date, time, and length of time that the participant is unable to attend the class. All refunds will be reviewed by the Aquatics Coordinator and will be processed upon request.

Public Swim Capacity Policy:
On extremely hot days we anticipate reaching maximum capacity at which time the pool will close for the remainder of the day. Parties who are not registered with the swim center will not be allowed to admit guests after we close our doors. We will not allow patrons to re-enter the facility once the doors have been closed.

Weather Policy:
The Swim Center will be open rain or shine. If lightning, thunder, or heavy hail/rain occurs, the Swim Center will be closed immediately. The Swim Center may close at any time without notice due to program changes, weather conditions, or emergency situations.

Public Swim Attendance Policy:
The Hercules Swim Center shall remain open for public swim sessions for at least the first hour of operation. If at any time, the attendance has not reached 25 patrons, the public swim session will close. In addition, if at any time after the first hour of operation attendance drops below 25 patrons, the public swim session will also close. There will be no refunds for all closures due to lack of attendance.

Swim Diaper Policy:
Any child that is not completely potty trained must wear an approved swim diaper while swimming in our facility. To avoid pool closure and/or the cancellation of your swimming lesson/program, please remember to have your child visit the restroom periodically throughout your swim time.

Bathroom Policy:
The Hercules Swim Center encourages that children of the opposite sex six (6) years or older will be required to use their respected locker room. Please respect our community and facility by utilizing the appropriate locker room for the changing of diapers and/or clothing; we encourage cleanliness and privacy.

Pool Facts:

  • Lifeguards spend more than 40 hours getting certified and trained 2 times a month year round to ensure that they are ready for any emergency situation.
  • If you have questions or comments about our facility please feel free to talk with our Sr. Lifeguards (dressed in Red).
  • The Hercules Swim Center is a year round facility that offers programs and activities for adults and children.
  • Swim instructors are certified Water Safety Instructors from the American Red Cross and are trained to teach swim classes.
  • Our main pool consists of 300,000 gallons of water & play pool consists of 30,000 gallons of water.
  • The Hercules Swim Center was built in 1991, making this our 19th year of operation.
  • Both of our pools are heated year round approximately 78-82 degrees.
Pool Rules:
  • All entries to the pool and deck areas must be paid admissions, including non-swimmers and chaperones.
  • Children, 9 years and under must be accompanied by an adult 18 years or older at all times.
  • All children 6 years & under must be supervised and within in reaching distance of a parent or guardian; failure to follow this rule will result in the lifeguard staff asking the parent/guardian and child to leave the facility without a refund.
  • Only US Coast Guard approved life jackets may be worn with adult supervision; swim suits with sewn-in foam is not allowed.
  • Noodles and small diving toys are permitted during public swim hours. No water guns, full face masks, snorkels, fins, inner tubes, water wings, air mattresses, beach ball or inflatable toys.
  • Outside food is allowed under certain rules and conditions: no alcohol, no glass, and no BBQs.
  • No street clothing may be worn in the pool; proper swim attire only. Swimmers may wear a white t-shirt over their swimming suit, but must have a swimming suit on under the white shirt.
  • No photograph or recording equipment allowed in the pool areas.
  • Swim diapers required for any child who wears diapers; available for purchase in the Aquatics Office.
  • No animals/pets allowed in the pool areas.
  • Only children (5 years and under) of the opposite sex are allowed in the locker room areas.
  • Pool rules are posted on the deck surrounding the pool and are necessary for the safety of all participants. Participants must obey posted rules and oral instructions from the aquatics staff at all times; failure to comply will result in being asked to leave the facility without a refund.
  • The Swim Center is subject to close without warning. Public Swim will close early if the minimum requirement of 25 participants is not met within the first hour of operation. *Refunds will not be given if the pool closes because of lack of attendance.

Lap Swim / Water Walking Therapy (Ages 14 and Up)
This program is designed for swimmers looking for a cardiovascular workout through swimming laps or water walking, and for participants who are looking for a location to complete their therapy routine. Swimmers may be asked to circle swim or move to designated lap lanes as needed; please ask for assistance.

Master Swim (Ages 18 and Up)

For serious swimmers who can utilize this time for a great and powerful workout. All Master Lap swimmers will have access to the swim center during the designated Master Lap Swim time, along with Lap Swim hours (please refer to lap swim hours & dates above). *Please review Pool Holiday / Closure dates on when the Swim Center will be closed for all programs.

The Master Lap Swim Program needs to meet the minimum enrollment of twelve (12) swimmers per session for the program to operate. The Swim Center requires members to register for the next session during the designated registration dates.
New swimmers will receive a 1 week free trail with no obligation of joining!

Public Swim
The Hercules Swim Center's Public Swim is open to the community as early as May to the end of October; enjoy a fun filled day in the sun! There is something for eveyone!

AquaTot Fun Swim

AquaTot Swimming Lessons
AquaTot swimming lessons are designed for children 6 months to 4 year of age; each class will focus on basic swimming skills in a non threatening and enjoyable environment. Parents are required to actively participate with their child during this designed swimming lesson time. Each session consists of (8) 30 minute classes held within a two week period on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. This is an entry level class that prepares your child for group and individual swimming lessons as he/she grows into more advanced level classes. Semi Private Swimming Lessons
NEW at the Hercules Swim Center! Now offering Semi Private Swimming Lessons for children 4 years to 12 years of age! Semi Private swimming lessons consist of (8) 30 minute classes held within a two week period on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursday, and Fridays; each class will consist of two students per instructor. Pre-School Semi Private swimming lesson are designed for children 4 to 7 year of age and will be held in our play pool, and Youth Semi Private swimming lessons are designed for children 8 to 12 years of age; sign up early, space is limited. Individual Swimming Lessons
Individual swimming lessons are designed for children 3 year & up! Each session consists of (8) 30 minute classes that operates on Mondays, Tuesday, Thursday, and Fridays for two weeks. We encourage participants to enroll in our individual swimming lesson if they need additional help with swimming technique or development, or if they want one on one instruction. Swimming instruction and location will be determined by the swim instructor to ensure we meet the participants needs; space is limited, we encourage early registration. Group Swimming Lessons
The Hercules Swim Center offers group swimming lessons for children 4 year to 12 years of age; our swimming lesson program is designed through the American Red Cross Learn to Swim Program from Levels 1 to Levels 6. Each session is two weeks with a total of eight (8) 30 to 45 minute classes operating on Monday, Tuesday, Thursdays, and Fridays; Levels 1 to Levels 3 are 30 minutes, and Levels 4 to Levels 6 are 45 minutes. There is one instructor for up to 7 students per class. Children 4 to 7 are encouraged to enroll in either Level 1 or Level 2 which is located in our Play pool, and children 8 to 12 are encouraged to enroll in Levels 3 to Level 6 which is located in our Main Pool. Children 8 years or older who have no prior swimming experience are encouraged to enroll in our Semi Private or Individual Swimming Lessons. Adult Swimming Lessons
Adult swimming lessons are designed for participants 13 years & up who would like some additional swimming instruction without the hustle and bustle of small children. This lesson program is ideal for adults of all ages who have never learned to swim or who may have a limited aquatic back-round. We encourage early registration, space is limited; 5 students to 1 instructor. For fees, dates, & to sign up use our online registration.

Adult Fitness Lessons
A daily workout for adults 16 years and older with in and out of water instruction from an instructor; students will focus on their own stroke development and technique, building and improving endurance, and so much more. Each student is required to have basic swimming skills and should be able to work independently in the water.

Aquatic Certification Classes
The Hercules Swim Center offers many different American Red Cross aquatic certification classes from WSI, WSI Aide, Guard Start, JR. Guard, Basic Water Rescue, Lifeguard Training, re-certifications, and so much more. Please feel free to visit our website to get more information on our current aquatic certification classes!

Water Exercise
Are you looking for an alternative to high impact aerobics and stair stepping, or just looking for a healthy exercise class? Well, this is the class for you! This specialty course is ideal for therapy patients, seniors, and fitness buffs! Water exercise is a program that follows sound exercise principals while using water resistance to improve your cardiovascular system, tone muscles, and burn fat. This course is designed for all different fitness levels and movement abilities; a level 5 swimming experience is required.
