Employment Application

How to Apply:
To apply for an open position with the City of Hercules, you can obtain an employment application in one of the following ways:

  • On-line: Download the employment application, print it out, and mail it or deliver in person to our office located at 111 Civic Drive, Hercules, CA 94547, Attention: Personnel Department.
  • In Person: You may obtain an application from the Personnel Office at the location above.
  • By Mail: You may have a City application mailed to you. To Request an application by mail, please contact our Personnel Office at (510) 799-8214.

How to Submit an Application:
Applications are only accepted for current recruitments. You must specify on your application the position for which you are applying. When completing the employment application, be as thorough as possible. Please keep in mind that full consideration will be based only on those skills that specifically qualify you for the position being recruited.

A resume is optional and will not be accepted as a substitute for a completed City of Hercules employment application. It is very important that you do not indicate “See Resume” or “See Attached” in lieu of providing the information requested on the application. Incomplete applications, applications without an original signature, or late applications will not be accepted. 

You must submit separate application materials for each position for which you wish to be considered. You may apply for as many positions as you wish; however, we suggest that you target your search to those positions that meet your interest and for which you are qualified. Remember, we only accept applications for positions which we are currently recruiting. If you apply for a position that is not open, your application materials will not be processed.

Applications and required supplemental materials must be submitted (in person or by mail) to the City of Hercules Personnel Department, 111 Civic Drive, Hercules, CA 94547 before 5:00 p.m. on the deadline date listed or the application will not be considered. The City of Hercules does not accept postmarked applications. Faxed and/or emailed applications/resumes are not accepted.

The Screening Process for Applications:
All applications must be submitted to the Personnel Department for screening. In some cases, the application is forwarded to the respective department for screening, and if selected for an interview, the department will contact the applicant directly. During recruitments with scheduled deadlines, the Personnel Department will review the applications with the designated department manager. Applications that are no longer under consideration will be notified in writing by the Personnel Department.
