Expect Traffic Delays for 4th of July Parade and Festival
Posted Date: 6/21/2010
The City of Hercules 4th of July celebration is quickly approaching. The parade begins at 4:00PM on Sunday, July 4th, during this time, please expect heavy traffic delays in and around San Pablo and Sycamore avenues. The parade route will begin on the corner of John Muir Parkway and Tsushima, the continue on to South Front Street, then Sycamore Avenue, and finally left on San Pablo Avenue to conclude at the Market Hall stage. During the parade, from approximately 3:45pm to 5:15pm, the following roads will be closed:

San Pablo Avenue from Hercules Avenue to John Muir Parkway
Sycamore Avenue from Tsushima to Willow Avenue
South Front Street from Tsushima to Sycamore Avenue
John Muir Parkway from San Pablo Avenue to end of Parkway
Tsushima Avenue from John Muir Parkway to Sycamore Avenue

Also for the parade, there will be NO parking along South Front Street. The City of Hercules and Hercules Police Department ask for your patience during this time. Homes in west Hercules can be accessed via Hercules Avenue, although it is highly advised to avoid travel if possible. Roads will be reopened as the parade traffic clears, but please plan on using an alternative route, if you do travel between 3:45pm and 5:15pm that afternoon.

The City will also be hosting a fireworks display over the Waterfront at dusk. For the fireworks display, Willet Avenue will be closed from approximately 7:45pm to 9:45pm. Residents can access the neighborhood via Taraya at Sanderling, but must show proof of residency. Hercules Police Officers will be directing traffic during the parade and following the fireworks display to ensure the safetu of all Herculeans.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to bring the community a spectacular celebration. If you should have any questions about the day’s activities or road closures, please contact Mindy Niualiku at 510-799-8230 or Michelle Harrington at 510-245-6533.
