City of Hercules

Community Events

The City of Hercules works with local nonprofits to host community events throughout the year to encourage residents to meet fellow neighbors, enjoy our diverse community, and help make the city a better place to live.

Community Clean Up Day
Help beautify Hercules and make it look its best by participating in our City Clean Up Day. Come and drop off old yard clippings, tree limbs, small appliances, and furniture. E-waste drop off is also available. One visit per household is allowed, personal ID showing you are a resident of Hercules is required. The 2016 Community Clean Up Day will be held on May 7, 2016.

If you would like to volunteer for this event please send an email to aikeda@ci.hercules.ca.us or call the Parks and Recreation Department at (510) 799-8291 no later than April 1.

City-Wide Garage Sale
Spring Cleaning is taken to a new level with the City-Wide Garage Sale. Residents pay to have their home listed on a map that is then sold (usually for a quarter) on the day of the event. The proceeds generated from those who sign up go to the Hercules Sister City Association, who sponsors the event.

4th of July Celebrate Hercules 5k Run & Parade
Join Herculeans for the 4th of July 5k run. Enjoy food, information, entertainment and plenty of food at our Expo. After the run make sure to stay at Refugio Valley Park and watch the popular 4th of July Parade! All of this will take place at Refugio Valley Park! Expo opens at 7:00a.m., race starts at 8:30a.m. and parade will begin around 11:00a.m. For more information go to Hercules4thofJuly.com.

Hercules Sister City Program
Since 1981, the City of Hercules has been a sister city to Tsushima, Japan. Each year both cities send representatives to visit the other city and are given a grand tour of the area. The Hercules Sister City Association (HSCA) hosts the Tsushima representatives and chose the Hercules Youth Ambassadors to travel to Japan. Students are chosen based on their community involvement and willingness to represent Hercules.
