City of Hercules

 The City of Hercules Recreation Department is proud to offer sports and other positive leisure activities for patrons of all ages. Our recreational programs help promote a healthy lifestyle, while providing an environment in which people can enjoy themselves. Whether it is recreation team sports you are seeking, or an individual leisure activity/hobby, the City of Hercules is proud to offer it.

Little Dragons 1 (Ages 3-4.5)
This class is aimed for our 3-4.5 year old friends who are excited to learn about martial arts! Through early exposure of basic Karate, we hope to foster good listening skills, instructional discipline, self confidence and technique. We will introduce the fundamentals through practice, play, games, and songs. Class will focus on providing exercises for the students to hone in on their own body awareness, strength building, individual and group interaction and prepare them for the next level in their Karate career.

Little Dragons 2 (Ages 4.5-6)
This class is aimed for our 4.5-6 year old friends who are excited to learn about martial arts! Baseball/Softball Camp (Ages 7-13)
The hit and run baseball/softball camps offered by the National Academy of Athletics offer beginner to intermediate players the opportunity to build a solid foundation in their sport. Players love these camps because each day is filled with fundamental skill progression drills, easy to understand instruction, as well as games and competition. Boys and girls receive positive reinforcement throughout the day, to help build their confidence. This is a great place to develop their individual skills in a fun and positive environment. Players are taught the fundamental skills and challenged to put them to the test in daily fun competitions. The staff uses positive reinforcement to help motivate the campers. If you like baseball or softball you will love these camps! Baseball/Softball camps are great for boys and girls ages 7-9 and 10-13. Campers are grouped by age and ability to learn appropriate drills, skills, and techniques.

Softball League (Ages 18+)
Our Adult Softball Leagues are designed for adults 18 and over; our league is sanctioned by USSSA rules and regulations.  League fees will include staff, two rounds of league games, playoffs, umpires, and awards for the first place teams. There must be a minimum of four (4) teams to run the league with a maximum of eight (6) teams allowed.

Junior Golf Camp (Ages 7-10)
The Junior Golf Camp is a great way to provide junior golfers with instructional golf tips. This is a great way for kids to learn how to play golf with lessons offered from our PGA professional which includes full swing, short game, and even some putting.

Golf League (Ages 18+)
A minimum of (8) - 2 player teams and a maximum of (16) - 2 player teams per night, using a modified Stableford system. A Round Robin format will be utilized to establish weekly opponents. The length of the league will be determined by the number of teams that register.

Tiny Tot Sports (Ages 3-6)
This sports class is an all inclusive class which includes baseball, basketball, and soccer! Whether your child is a beginner, intermediate or advanced player this class is just right for them! City staff will be able to show your child the form needed for each sport and all the fun that they can have while participating in each sport.

Pee Wee Basketball League (Ages 7-9)
This league is open to both boys and girls ages 7-9 years of age. This league runs twice a year with one beginning in April and the second league beginning in October. Players will vary from beginner to advanced skill levels.  Participants will learn and improve in all aspects of the game of basketball.  From offense/defense to sportsmanship and teamwork, this is a great opportunity to introduce the sport at an early age. Practices will either be M/W or T/TH; games will be held on Fridays between 4:45pm and 8pm.

Elementary Basketball League (Ages 10-13)
Our elementary basketball league is designed for boys and girls between the ages 10-13 from beginner to advanced playing level. This league runs twice a year with one beginning in January and the seond league beginning in July. Each team will practice twice a week on either M/W or T/TH focusing on sportsmanship and team work, the rules of the game, basic fundamentals to advanced game situations, offense and defense, dribbling, passing, and many more basketball skills.

Table Tennis (Ages 16+)
This program is designed to provide competitive table tennis action for youths/adults who want to improve their knowledge and skills of the game. The program follows U.S.T.T.A. and the International Table Tennis Federation. Please bring your own table tennis paddle and wear comfortable clothing; please no black soled shoes. Come and participate in this exciting program; all playing levels welcome!

Elementary Group Tennis Lessons  (Ages 6-14)
Students will learn to improve upon various tennis strokes such as forehand, backhand, serving, and volley shots.  Our classes are offered year-round with an emphasis on having fun and learning in a positive, stress-free environment.  Our long-time tennis professional, Amado Lazano teaches all ability levels from beginner to advanced.  From shot-making, to footwork and conditioning, our tennis lessons will help improve all players improve their tennis skill set.

Teen/Adult Group Tennis Lessons (Ages 15+)
Lessons will be taught by local teaching professional Amado Lazano.  Students will learn to improve upon various tennis strokes such as forehand, backhand, serving, and volley shots.  Our classes are offered year-round with an emphasis on having fun and learning in a positive, stress-free environment.

Open Gym Basketball & Volleyball
Open gym periods are ongoing. Players, beginning to advanced, are encouraged to drop in. Come on down for an energetic game of Basketball or Volleyball.

Open Gym Passes
The great thing about our open gym program is that our passes are valid throughout the year and never expire. Our open gym passes are valid at any of our open gym time frames, and can be used for either volleyball or basketball. Our passes are a great way of saving money for those individuals looking to participate in our open gym programs on an ongoing basis. Purchase our passes for a family member or friend, they are great gift ideas.
