City of Hercules

 The City of Hercules Recreation Department is proud to offer sports and other positive leisure activities for patrons of all ages. Our recreational programs help promote a healthy lifestyle, while providing an environment in which people can enjoy themselves. Whether it is recreation team sports you are seeking, or an individual leisure activity/hobby, the City of Hercules is proud to offer it.

Little Dragons 1 (Ages 3-4.5)
This class is aimed for our 3-4.5 year old friends who are excited to learn about martial arts! Through early exposure of basic Karate, we hope to foster good listening skills, instructional discipline, self confidence and technique. We will introduce the fundamentals through practice, play, games, and songs. Class will focus on providing exercises for the students to hone in on their own body awareness, strength building, individual and group interaction and prepare them for the next level in their Karate career.

Little Dragons 2 (Ages 4.5-6)
This class is aimed for our 4.5-6 year old friends who are excited to learn about martial arts! Softball League (Ages 18+)
Our Adult Softball Leagues are designed for adults 18 and over; our league is sanctioned by USSSA rules and regulations.  League fees will include staff, two rounds of league games, playoffs, umpires, and awards for the first place teams. There must be a minimum of four (4) teams to run the league with a maximum of eight (6) teams allowed.

Junior Golf Lessons (Ages 7-10)
Junior Golf Lessons are a great way to provide junior golfers with instructional golf tips. This is a great way for kids to learn how to play golf with lessons offered from our PGA professional which includes full swing, short game, and even some putting.

Golf League (Ages 18+)
A minimum of (8) - 2 player teams and a maximum of (16) - 2 player teams per night, using a modified Stableford system. A Round Robin format will be utilized to establish weekly opponents. The length of the league will be determined by the number of teams that register.

Tiny Tot Sports (Ages 3-6)
This sports class is an all inclusive class which includes baseball, basketball, and soccer! Whether your child is a beginner, intermediate or advanced player this class is just right for them! City staff will be able to show your child the form needed for each sport and all the fun that they can have while participating in each sport.

Pee Wee Basketball League (Ages 7-9)
This league is open to both boys and girls ages 7-9 years of age. This league runs twice a year with one beginning in April and the second league beginning in October. Players will vary from beginner to advanced skill levels.  Participants will learn and improve in all aspects of the game of basketball.  From offense/defense to sportsmanship and teamwork, this is a great opportunity to introduce the sport at an early age. Practices will either be M/W or T/TH; games will be held on Fridays between 4:45pm and 8pm.

Elementary Basketball League (Ages 10-13)
Our elementary basketball league is designed for boys and girls between the ages 10-13 from beginner to advanced playing level. This league runs twice a year with one beginning in January and the seond league beginning in July. Each team will practice twice a week on either M/W or T/TH focusing on sportsmanship and team work, the rules of the game, basic fundamentals to advanced game situations, offense and defense, dribbling, passing, and many more basketball skills.

Table Tennis (Ages 16+)
This program is designed to provide competitive table tennis action for youths/adults who want to improve their knowledge and skills of the game. The program follows U.S.T.T.A. and the International Table Tennis Federation. Please bring your own table tennis paddle and wear comfortable clothing; please no black soled shoes. Come and participate in this exciting program; all playing levels welcome!

Open Gym Basketball & Volleyball
Open gym periods are ongoing. Players, beginning to advanced, are encouraged to drop in. Come on down for an energetic game of Basketball or Volleyball.

Open Gym Passes
The great thing about our open gym program is that our passes are valid throughout the year and never expire. Our open gym passes are valid at any of our open gym time frames, and can be used for either volleyball or basketball. Our passes are a great way of saving money for those individuals looking to participate in our open gym programs on an ongoing basis. Purchase our passes for a family member or friend, they are great gift ideas.

Flag Football Camp (Ages 6-12)

Flag Football is a fun and safe introduction to "America's Game". Participants learn the fundamentals of passing, rushing, receiving and defense along with the rules, strategy and play-calls of the game. The camp ends with the Skyhawks Super Bowl, where campers show-off their new skills with the new friends. All participants receive a t-shirt, football, and player evaluation. Participant-to-coach ratio is 12:1.

Cheerleading Camp (Ages 5-10)
Skyhawks Cheerleading Camp teaches the essential skills to lead crowds and support the home team! Each cheerleader learns proper hand & body movements and jumping techniques. The week concludes with a choreographed performance. All participants receive pom-poms, a t-shirt, and a merit award. Participant-to-coach ratio is 10:1.

Tennis Camp (Ages 7-12)
In Skyhawks tennis programs, players learn proper grips, footwork, strokes, volleys and serves, as well as the rules and etiquette that make tennis an exciting game. Programs fill quickly due to limited court space. All participants receive a t-shirt and player evaluation. The participant-to-coach ratio is approximately 8:1.

Mini-Hawk Camp (Ages 4-6)
This multi-sport program was developed to give children a positive first step into athletics. Baseball, basketball and soccer are taught in a safe, structured environment filled with lots of encouragement and a big focus on fun! Through games and activities, campers explore balance, hand/eye coordination, and skill development at their own pace. All participants receive a t-shirt, ball and player evaluation. Participant-to-coach ratio is 8:1.

Multi-Sport Camp (Ages 6-12)
We combine soccer, baseball and basketball into one fun-filled week; allowing young athletes to discover and develop a passion for a variety of sports in one setting. Athletes will learn the essential rules, strategies and skills of each sport, along with vital life lessons such as teamwork and sportsmanship. All participants receive a t-shirt, sports ball and a merit award. Participant-to-coach ratio is 12:1.

Volleyball Camp (Ages 7-14)
The fundamental skills of volleyball are taught through game-speed drills and daily scrimmages that focus on passing, setting, hitting, and serving. This co-ed program is designed for the beginning and intermediate player. All participants receive a t-shirt, volleyball and player evaluation. The participant-to-coach ratio is approximately 10:1.

Golf Camp (Ages 5-9)
Using the SNAG (Starting New At Golf) system, participants learn the fundamentals of putting, chipping, pitching and driving in addition to the rules, etiquette and strategy of the game. Our progressive curriculum and modified equipment has simplified instruction so that young players can make an effective transition onto the golf course. All equipment is provided. Participant-to-coach ratio is 8:1.
