On Thursday October 19, the City of Hercules’ contractor Grade Tech, Inc. began construction of the West Bay Trail. Approved by City Council at the September 12, 2017 meeting, the project will extend the Bay Trail 1,000 feet along the City’s waterfront from the existing trail’s terminus to the intersection of Railroad Avenue and Bayfront Boulevard. The finished trail will be paved with asphalt and ten feet in width for the exclusive use of walkers, runners, and bicyclists.
Grade Tech began mobilizing equipment and installing erosion control devices on Thursday. They plan to begin earthmoving on Monday October 23 with the anticipated completion of construction in early December 2017 weather permitting. The contractor will be installing fencing and signs notifying users of the construction activity. Please stay clear of the construction zone allowing our contractor to safely complete the work as soon as possible.
