The Rodeo-Hercules Fire Protection District provides fire protection and emergency medical aid to the City of Hercules and the unincorporated area of Rodeo. RHFD is an independent autonomous fire district serving an area of approximately twenty-six square miles with a population of approximately 34,000. RHFD is governed by a five-member, locally-elected Board of Directors and derives its principal funding from normal property taxes and benefit assessments. The District's revenue is fixed according to the assessed valuation of the properties within the District's boundaries.
